This is a picture of hope, yes, hope. Not the hope of this world, as something that may possibly happen; but a hope that is sure, absolute. I see this as a new life that God gives to those who believe in His Son. A hope that we can believe Him and trust him for all his promises. A new life where the old life has passed away (as seen in the burnt stump) and a new life begins, springing from the ashes, as it were. Those were my thoughts when I took this photo in early 1995. It wouldn’t be much of a hope if I still didn’t have this hope and couldn’t share it with you. I still have this hope, this new life, which nothing or no one can take away from me. For I am in Him and He is in me.
