Coincidence or …God?

In my last post, I wrote that what I should have been doing was put on the back burner. But God didn’t give up on me!

It was the Spring of 1994 and I was going from London to Toronto to visit a friend and praying along the way that the Lord would show me his will for my life at that time. When I arrived at my friends house, he told me that a missionary, Paul (see the previous post to find out who Paul is), was going to be showing a slide show at another friends house. It wasn’t difficult to convince me to go and see the slides about Zambia.

Shortly following my visit to my friends, there were missionary reports given on Russia and Zambia during a Toronto conference at Easter. The combination of these events revived a desire in me to go to Zambia or Russia, with a preference towards Zambia.

Not long after this, I was visiting my hometown and went to visit a couple who were instrumental in leading me to Christ. I discussed with them the recent events and shared with them my desire to go to Zambia. They said “You should go, there’s nothing holding you back”. Since I was still single, finished school, no real debts to speak of, they were right. There was a need, I was willing, I was able.

Two days later at our regular prayer meeting at my home church in London, unknown to me until that night, Paul was visiting for a missionary report on Zambia.

Still, I waited on the Lord for doors to open before me…
